FAUX WOOD BLINDS

American Vintage Group LLC is recallng Faux Wood Blinds sold in Texas from April 2009 to September 2009. Strangulation can occur when a child places his/her neck between the cords of the pull cord above the breakaway device and the device fails to breakaway.

This recall involves various sized custom Faux Wood Blinds with 2” slats in two colors – silk white and pearl. The recall only involves custom-sized Faux Wood Blinds. There is a label inside the head rail that states “NIENMADE China” and a second label inside the head rail with a manufacturing code beginning with the letters “MFG” followed by four numbers. A warning label on the bottom rail states, “Cords and bead chains can loop around a child’s neck and STRANGLE.”

Restoration Hardware Baby & Child is recalling Roman Shades with Black-out Lining sold at Restoration Hardware Baby & Child stores nationwide from June 2008 to August 2009. Strangulation can occur when a child places his/her neck between the exposed inner cord and the fabric on the backside of the blind or when a child pulls the cord out and wraps it around his/her neck.

This recall involves all Roman shades with black-out lining sold by Restoration Hardware Baby & Child. These shades measure 23, 32, 36 and 48-inches wide by 64-inches long. There is a label sewn on the left lower corner on the back of the shade that states “baby & child Restoration Hardware” and “Made in China.”

Land of Nod is recalling Roman Shades “Weren’t Built in a Day” sold by The Land of Nod stores in Illinois and Washington state from February 2007 to August 2009. Strangulation can occur when a child places his/her neck between the exposed inner cord and the fabric on the backside of the blind or when a child pulls the cord out and wraps it around his/her neck.

This recall involves all Roman shades sold by The Land of Nod. A label sewn on the lower right back of the shade states “The Land of Nod” and “Made in China.”

The Land of Nod will be sending free repair kits to all known consumers.

This recall involves all styles and sizes of fabric, bamboo and jute roll-up blinds and Roman shades.

All Strong Industry (USA) Inc. is recalling Roman Shades sold nationwide from January 2003 to May 2005. Strangulations can occur when a child places his/her neck between the exposed inner cord and the fabric on the backside of the blind or when a child pulls the cord out and wraps it around his/her neck.

This recall involves Roman shades distributed by All Strong Industry that are made of a white-on-white striped fabric and measure about 64 inches long and the width ranges between 23 and 39 inches. “RN 103984” is printed on another sewn-in tag near the bottom back side of the fabric.

ROLL-UP BLINDS

Lotus & Windoware Inc. are recalling ¼” Oval Roll-up Blinds sold at Ace Hardware and Big Lots stores nationwide from January 1999 to April 2009. Strangulations can occur if the lifting loop slides off the side of the blind and a child’s neck becomes entangled on the free-standing loop or if a child places his/her neck between the lifting loop and the roll-up blind material.

This recall involves all roll-up blinds without release clips. The roll-up blinds have plastic, ¼” oval-shaped slats, and measure either 48” or 72” long. The blinds were sold with two warning hang tags indicating ways to avoid strangulation.

SHADES SOLD AT BIG LOT 

International Merchandise is recalling  Deluxe Matchstick Roll-up Shades sold nationwide at Big Lot stores from January 2009 to June 2009.  Strangulations can occur if the lifting loops slide off the side of the blind and a child’s neck becomes entangled on the free-standing loop or if a child places his/her neck between the lifting loop and the roll-up blind material. Also, children can become entangled in the looped pull cord.

This recall involves Deluxe Matchstick Roll-Up Shades with widths of 24”, 36”, 48” and 72” by 72” long in a “natural” color that are suspended by two cord loops called lifting loops or inner cords. Both the head rail and bottom rail are made of bamboo and there is a warning label near the bottom that advises: “Young children can become entangled and strangle in cord or bead loops.”
