When warranted the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) , asks the motor vehicle manufacturer to conduct a recall. If the motor vehicle manufacturer does not initiate a recall, then the NHTSA can order the motor vehicle manufacturer to do a recall.
Information for automotive recalls, service bulletins, child safety seat recalls and current and past press releases are maintained in separate databases by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT).
