Kid's Patrol Announces Recall of Zippered Vest

Kid's Patrol of New York, N.Y., is recalling about 12,000 Athletic Team zippered vests sold exclusively at Wal-Mart stores. The zipper "pulls" can slide off the top of the vest and become a choking hazard to young children.

The Athletic Team vests are blue with red and white trim, and were sold as part of a three-piece set that included a sweatshirt and sweatpants. There is a logo on the chest of the vest that shows a football and the words, "ATHLETIC TEAM." The vests are a cotton/polyester blend, made in Thailand, and produced in 12-month, 18-month and 24-month sizes. Wal-Mart stores nationwide sold the vests from June 1997 through October 1997. The three-piece set sold for about $11.

Consumers should stop using the vest immediately and return the vest or three-piece set to any Wal-Mart store for a refund or store credit. For more information on this recall, consumers should contact Kid's Patrol toll free at (800) 562-5373 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST Monday through Friday.
