Sassi America Inc. Announce Recall of Acrylic Primer for Nail Care 

Sassi America Inc., of Elk Grove Village, Ill., is voluntarily recalling about 72,000 bottles of acrylic primer used to prepare fingernails before applying artificial nails. This methacrylic acid primer is not packaged in child-resistant packaging, as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act.

The primer is packaged in amber-colored bottles with black caps. The model number 508, 509, 510, 511 or 512 is written on the front of the label. "SASSI" also is written on the labels. The primer was sold in .25-ounce, .50-ounce, 1-ounce, 2-ounce and 4-ounce size bottles. The acrylic primers were sold separately and in kits.

Grocery and beauty supply stores nationwide sold the primer from June 2000 through January 2004 for between $2 and $10.

John Frieda Professional Hair Care, Inc. Announces Voluntary U.S. Recall of a Hair Styling Spray, Sheer Blonde®, Curvaceous Blonde™ 

John Frieda Professional Hair Care, Inc. announced today it is voluntarily recalling a limited amount of its Sheer Blond Curvaceous Blonde 6.7 fluid ounces pump spray, sold only at Eckerd stores in the states of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia. The voluntary recall was initiated after routine testing revealed a possible contamination with Pseudomonas, a bacterium which can cause infections in an open wound or cut in rare circumstances. 

The recalled product was distributed only to Eckerd drug stores in the above-mentioned states. A total of 104 cases (624 bottles) are affected by this recall. The Eckerd stores who received the indicated lots have been notified and are pulling the product from their shelves. 

The product recall is limited to the following lot codes: S001AW037 and S001AW040. The code is printed on the bottom of the bottle. 

Sheer Blonde Curvaceous Blonde bottles, not bearing the above codes, are not affected by the recall nor are all other John Frieda Professional Hair Care Inc., products. 

Consumers who purchased the recalled lots are urged to return them to the Eckerd store where they purchased the product for a full refund.

The W.E. Bassett Company Announces Recall Eyelash Curlers 

Name of product: Eyelash Curlers

Units: 220,000

Manufacturer/Importer: The W.E. Bassett Company, of Shelton, Conn.

Hazard: The plastic handles can detach and cause consumers to lose their grip, resulting in injuries to the eyes and face.

Description: The “Frosted Grip” eyelash curlers have pink-plastic handles and are sold with a rubber re-fill pad. The eyelash curlers were sold under various brand names including TRIM and Salon Plus. There are no identifying marks on the eyelash curler. However, item numbers are printed on the packaging. Item numbers involved in the recall include 5-87B (sold at Wal-Mart, CVS and Shopko), 5-87RA (sold at Rite Aid) and 5-87S (sold at Kroger).

Sold at: CVS, Meijer, Kroger, Rite Aid, SaveMart, Shopko, and Wal-Mart stores nationwide from September 2003 to June 2004 for between $3 and $4.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should stop using these eyelash curlers immediately and contact The W.E. Bassett Company for a prepaid mailer to return the eyelash curler for a free replacement plus a $5 off coupon towards any TRIM product.

John Frieda Professional Hair Care, Inc. announced it is voluntarily recalling its Frizz-Ease 5-Minute Manager Blow-Dry Styling Spray, 6.7 fluid ounces (200 ml) pump spray.  

The product recall is limited to the following lot codes: S025AS064 and S025AS065. The code is printed on the bottom of the bottle. 

Frizz-Ease 5-Minute Manager bottles, not bearing the above codes, are not affected by the recall nor any other John Frieda Professional Hair Care Inc. products. 

Consumers who purchased the recalled lots are urged to dispose of the product, and contact the Company's consumer relations department at 1-888-505-4254 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday EDST to receive a redemption coupon for its full value.
