Markets Announces Recall of Weis Baker’s Basket 18 Ct Fruit Miniatures and 2 lb
Platters of Mini-Fruit Diamonds
Weis Markets is recalling Weis Baker's 18-count Fruit Miniatures
and two pound platters of Mini-Fruit Diamonds in four varieties – Nut Diamond,
Cheese Raspberry, Apricot and Mixed assortment. These products are being
recalled because they may contain walnuts which are not identified on the
label.
These products,
which were sold in Weis Markets' Bakeries, have been removed from store shelves
and destroyed. The 18-count Fruit miniatures come in clear plastic containers
and the two pound Mini Fruit Diamonds are packaged in a platter with a clear
top. The UPC and code dates are listed below.
Concerned
customers may return this product to Weis Markets for a full refund. Customers

Contamination
Mark's
Quality Meats, Inc., a Detroit, Mich., firm, is recalling approximately 13,150
pounds of various cuts of steaks and ground beef products because they may be
contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.
The steak
and ground beef products subject to recall were produced on Dec. 20, 21, 24 or
26, 2007, and were distributed to restaurants in the metropolitan Detroit area.
These products were not available for purchase by consumers in retail
establishments.

11206, is recalling packages of "SNGNE brand Fruit Flavour Chews" due
to an undeclared milk ingredient. People who have allergies to milk may run the
risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this
product.
The recalled
"SNGNE brand Fruit Flavour Chews," a product of China, are packaged
in a plastic bag coded "Pro: 24/05/2007 Exp: 24/05/2009." The product
was distributed in metropolitan New York City.
Consumers
who have purchased "SNGNE brand Fruit Flavour Chews" should return it
to the place of purchase.

New Era Canning Company Announces Recall of Certain Lots of
Mexican-style Chili Beans, Green Beans and Dark Red Kidney Beans Because of
Possible Health Risk
New Era Canning Company of New Era, Michigan is announcing
a new recall to include Mexican style chili beans, green beans, and dark red
kidney beans that were shipped to food service and retail customers because a
records review identified the possibility that a small number of cans from each
lot may not have been adequately cooked.
This recall
only affects a small number of cases from the products with the specific codes
listed below:
GFS brand Fancy Mexican Style Chili Beans in 6 lb. 12 oz. cans, GFS
Reorder #192015, UPC 9390119201. The recall is limited to 43 cases of product
with 6 cans per case of lot number 00249 5AJ6LC with a 4 digit time stamp
number ranging from 2113 through 2235 printed on the end of
the can after the lot number (For example: 00249 5AJ6LC 2113). Only
product bearing time stamps of 2113 through 2235 are included in the
recall. The canned Mexican style chili beans were distributed to Gordon Food
Service foodservice customers in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky,
Michigan, Missouri, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin and sold through GFS
Marketplace stores in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Michigan.
Kitchen
brand Blue Lake Mixed Cuts Green Beans in 6 lb. 6 oz. cans. This recall is limited to 57 cases with 6 cans per case
with lot number 00249 6FG5GA printed on the end of the can. (All cans of this
lot are under recall). The canned green beans were not sold at retail, but were
distributed to a Michigan restaurant by North Oakland Commodities.

Value brand Dark Red Kidney Beans in 15.5 oz. cans, UPC 7874237085. This recall is limited to
12 cases with 12 cans per case with lot number 00249 CKJ6LD printed on the end of
the can. (All cans of this lot are under recall). This lot of canned dark red
kidney beans was sold at Wal-Mart Stores in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana,
Nevada, Utah and Wyoming.

products were distributed through Indian grocery stores in Colorado, Georgia,
Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New
York, Ohio, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin.
These
products are used in India for religious purposes and are intended to be placed
on the skin or hair. Although the product was not intended to be sold for food
use, its labeling may be confusing and may imply it may be used as food.
The
ABIL, GULAL, KANKU,and KUM KUM product is distributed in a 3.5 oz. (100 g) plastic

New Era Canning Company Announces Recall of Green Beans and Garbanzo Beans in #10 cans (6 to 7 pound cans)
New Era Canning Company of New Era, Michigan is recalling all cans of green beans and garbanzo beans in #10 cans (large cans containing between 6 and 7 pounds) because they may have been processed under conditions which could have led to contamination by Clostridium botulinum bacterium spores. The codes on the affected product begin with the numbers “00249,” or the letters “GREEN” or “GARB”. This recall does not include Italian Green Beans because that is a different product.
This recall only affects the products in the large #10 cans, the majority of which were potentially sold nationwide to various food service customers. However these products may also have been purchased by consumers at retail stores. The code on the cans may be embossed (stamped into the metal of the can) or printed in ink on one of the metal can ends.
Examples of how a code may appear on a can of green beans are: "00249 2BH7FL", "00249 1515 2BH7FL", "GREEN 2BH7FL" or "GREEN 1515 2BH7FL". (These are not necessarily actual can codes).
Examples of how a code may appear on a can of garbanzo beans are: "00249 34F7LG", "00249 1515 34F7LG", "GARB 34F7LG" or "GARB 1515 34F7LG". (These are not necessarily actual can codes).
New Era Canning, in conjunction with the US Food and Drug Administration and
the Michigan Department of Agriculture, is thoroughly evaluating all processes
and procedures to determine the cause of the problem.
Any food that may be contaminated should be disposed of carefully. Even tiny amounts of toxins ingested, inhaled, or absorbed through the eye or a break in the skin can cause serious illness. Skin contact should be avoided as much as possible, and the hands should be washed immediately after handling the food. Customers who have the product or any foods made with these products should throw them away immediately. Double bag the cans in plastic bags that are tightly closed, then place in a trash receptacle for non-recyclable trash outside of the home. Restaurants and institutions are encouraged to assure that such products are only placed in locked receptacles which are not accessible to the public.

Deli Chef Tri-Bean Salad Recalled From Some Kroger Stores
Inter-American Products, a division of The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR), announced a recall on all codes of Deli Chef Tri-Bean Salad sold from store deli counters in some states because the product has the potential to be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium which can cause a potentially life threatening condition called botulism. Consumers should not consume this product even if it does not look or smell spoiled.
The Tri-Bean Salad was sold at deli counters in stores in Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, New Mexico, Utah, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
The green beans in the Tri-Bean Salad were processed by the New Era Canning Company, which has announced a recall of the beans.

Harry and David Issues Nationwide Recall on Undeclared Peanuts and Other Nuts in Harry and David Giant Cashews
Harry and David, of Medford, Oregon, is recalling approximately 2130 boxes of 4 oz. Harry & David Giant Cashews because they may contain mixed nuts, including peanuts, almonds, pecans and Brazil nuts not declared on the ingredient statement.
The affected product was distributed throughout the United States only through Harry and David Stores beginning 11/16/07.
Harry and David is recalling all 4 oz. boxes of Giant Cashews with lot codes 2507 MSL 15:00 through 2507 MSL 18:00 and a use by date of 6/28/08. The lot code and use by date are ink jetted on the bottom of the box. Affected boxes also can be recognized by the price sticker on the bottom, or lower portion of the back, of the box. The price sticker states "Nuts Mixed Nuts Box 4oz". These products are packaged in 4 oz. paperboard boxes with bags of metalized film containing nuts inside. The recalled Shiloh Farms product was distributed to a total of 98 health food stores located in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Arkansas.
The company is asking stores to discontinue distribution of this product and to promptly return the product and stock on hand to the company for credit. Consumers should not consume this product and return this product to the point of purchase for a refund.
