United States Bakery Issues a Recall on Undeclared Milk in Two Varieties of Betsy Ross Donuts

United States Bakery, Seattle Division is recalling all 12 ounce packages of Betsy Ross Brand Chocolate Donuts and Old Fashioned Donuts, because the whey listed on the label does not declare it is a derivative of milk. 

The recalled Old Fashioned Donuts and Chocolate Donuts are sold in convenience stores in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Wyoming.

The donuts are packaged in red, white and blue boxes and state a package code prior to and including SELL BY FEB 9 FS. There are 6 donuts per package with a net weight of 12 ounces. Individual product containers are identified with UPC#72220-22080 and UPC#72220-22081.

Consumers who have purchased Betsy Ross 12 ounce boxes of donuts are urged to return them to the store of purchase for a full refund.

Whole Foods Market is Recalling 6,000 Jars of 365 Everyday Value Kalamata Olive Tapenade

Whole Foods Market is  recalling 6,000 jars of a 32,000-jar lot of its 365 Everyday Value Kalamata Olive Tapenade because the product may contain glass fragments, which may cause injury if ingested.

The code for the product is found on the top of the lid and the number is: B.B. 14/09/2009 L 257/06 with time stamps ranging from 14:00 through 16:00. Jars with time stamps within this range should be discarded and not consumed. The recalled product was distributed nationwide to Whole Foods Market stores. It comes in an 8.12 ounce jar with a purple and brown label. The barcode number (UPC) for the product is 0009948241757. The decision for the recall came after the Company received two reports in Texas of glass being found in the product.

Unilever Issues Recall  on Undeclared Cod Fish in a Limited Number of Cartons of "Knorr ® Chicken Flavor Bouillon" Cubes

Unilever of Englewood Cliffs, NJ, is ecalling "Knorr® Chicken flavor Bouillon" Cubes, UPC # 4800171162, Best if Used by MAR 17 2007, because it contains fish flavored bouillon cubes and therefore the presence of fish is undeclared. The affected product is packaged in 2.5 oz (72g) cartons (6 cubes in each carton) marked with UPC # 4800171162 located on the end flap of the carton and Best If Used By Date of MAR 17 2007 located on the end flap of the carton.

The recall relates to one production code of "Knorr® Chicken flavor Bouillon" cubes and is limited to 400 cartons produced. No other Knorr® bouillon product (including powders, packets or cubes of any other product code) is being recalled.  

The affected "Knorr® Chicken flavor Bouillon" cubes were distributed to a limited number of customers located in Florida, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island. Products may have reached consumers through retail stores in these states and adjoining areas. The affected product is being recalled from consumers and retailer store shelves, back rooms and warehouses.

QFL Issues Recall on Undeclared Dairy Content in Major Egg Product

QFL, Inc., of Paterson, NJ, is recalling all Major Egg product in Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry flavors because they contain undeclared dairy content. People who have allergies or severe sensitivity to dairy products run the risk of serious allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The recalled Major Egg products were distributed in retail stores.

Major Egg product was packed in one size 2.2 lbs., in plastic bottles.

It is found that product contained dairy product. The label should have been changed to reflect that the product contains milk.

For the next production of Major Egg, the label will be changed to a new one which declares product contains milk as allergen.

Indiana Firm Recalls Canned Chicken Soup due to Undeclared Allergens

Morgan Foods, an Austin, Ind., firm, is recalling approximately 6,317 pounds of chicken noodle soup due to the presence of undeclared allergens (milk, soy).

The product label indicates that the can contains chicken noodle soup; however, the can contains chicken, potato and broccoli soup with cheese. The soup contains milk and soy, known allergens, which are not declared on the label.

Royal International Trading, Inc. is recalling uneviscerated "Russian Sea" Atlantic herring. 

This product may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum spores, which can cause Botulism, a serious and potentially fatal food-borne illness.

The recalled "Russian Sea" Atlantic herring comes in 1300gr metal cans with the following code embossed on can: 01/10/06 413N74 IP and were sold in Brooklyn.

The Wornick Company, a Cincinnati, Ohio, firm, is recalling approximately 7,848 pounds of pasta entrees for toddlers due to the presence of an undeclared allergen, cheese (milk).

Recall of Cantaloupes Due to Potential Health Concerns

Dole Fresh Fruit Company announced the recall of cantaloupes in the Eastern U.S. and Quebec due to potential health concerns. Some cantaloupes packed on January 25, 26 and 27, 2007 by an independent, third-party grower in Costa Rica have tested positive for Salmonella. 

Approximately 6,104 cartons of cantaloupes were distributed to wholesalers in regions of the eastern United States and Quebec between February 5 and February 8, 2007. The cantaloupes have a light green color skin on the exterior, with orange flesh. The cantaloupes were distributed for sale in bulk in cardboard cartons, with 9, 12 or 15 cantaloupes to a carton. The recalled cartons are dark brown with "Dole Cantaloupes" in red lettering. They have a thirteen-digit number on a white tag pasted to the carton; the tenth digit is a 2.

Consumers who have uneaten cantaloupe purchased in the eastern United States or Quebec, on or after February 5, 2007, may contact their retail store to see if the product is the recalled brand.

Certain Jars of Earth's Best: "Organic 2 Apple Peach Barley Wholesome Breakfast Baby Food"

Hain Celestial Group is recalling certain jars of Earth’s Best Organic 2 Apple Peach Barley Wholesome Breakfast baby food because of the risk of contamination with Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium which can cause botulism, a life-threatening illness or death. Consumers are warned not to use the product even if it does not look or smell spoiled.

The affected product was sold in single individual jars and in variety packs (which contains 4 jars of the apple peach barley in the pack along with other varieties). The food is part of the firm’s “2nd Vegetables, Fruits and Blends” line intended for babies 6 months and older. The food was distributed through retail stores and sold through the Earth’s Best website. If consumers have any of the specified jars in their home, they should not use it and destroy it immediately.

Americas Kitchen Recalls "Wellsley Farms" Green Bean Casserole 

  Americas Kitchen of Alpharetta, GA, is recalling its 32-ounce packages of "Wellsley Farms" Green Bean Casserole sold from September 1, 2006 through February 22, 2007 because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The recalled "Wellsley Farms" Green Bean Casserole was distributed nationwide in BJ's Wholesale Club retail stores. The product comes in a 32-ounce, clear plastic package marked with SKU # 19866.

The production of the product has been suspended while the problem is being investigated.

Consumers who have purchased 32-ounce packages of "Wellsley Farms" Green Bean Casserole marked SKU # 19866 are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Daiei Trading-Chicago-Co. Issues Recall for Undeclared Peanuts in Bean Cracker

  Daiei Trading-Chicago-Co., Inc. of Carol Stream, Illinois is recalling 8.8 oz packages of Bean Cracker, "Itomo Mame Mix" because it contains undeclared peanuts. 

The Bean Cracker, "Itomo Mame Mix" was distributed in retail stores in Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Arkansas, Texas, Kansas, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Missouri, Minnesota, Tennessee, Iowa and Oklahoma.

The product comes in a 8.8 ounce, clear plastic package, item number 22-3163, UPC coded 784145220251. All lots of this product are being recalled.

Consumers who have purchased 8.8 ounce packages of the Bean Cracker, "Itomo Mame Mix" are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Castle Produce Announces the Recall of Cantaloupe Melons 

Castle Produce, a subsidiary of Tropical Produce, Inc., a wholesale importer of fresh fruit and vegetables announced the recall of cantaloupes in California due to potential health concerns. Some cantaloupes delivered on or after 2/16/2007 have tested positive for Salmonella

Approximately 2,560 cartons of cantaloupes were distributed to wholesalers in Los Angeles and San Francisco for distribution in the Western United States. The cantaloupes have a light green color skin on the exterior, with orange flesh. The cantaloupes were distributed for sale in bulk in cardboard cartons, with 9, 12 or 15 cantaloupes to a carton. The recalled cartons are natural brown cardboard with "Tropifresh de Costa Rica" in green and orange lettering. They have a thirteen-digit number on a white tag pasted to the carton; the tenth digit is a 2 or a 3.

Consumers who have uneaten cantaloupe purchased in the Western United States, on or after February 16, 2007, may contact their retail store to see if the product is the recalled brand.
