United Food Group, Inc. Recalling Product Because Of Possible Health Risk 

United Food Group, Inc announced a recall of products that contain instant nonfat dry milk because of possible salmonella contamination. 

Due to the products potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, the following are being recalled: 

 No other products other than these listed above are involved in the recall and only if distributed between 6/4/2007 and 6/4/2009. These products were distributed nationwide.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged to return them to the place of purchase. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-847-622-1803.

Undeclared Sulfites in “Chi Ling Gourmet Foods Hot Olive” 

New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker today alerted consumers that Tiffany Food Corp., located at 1182 Flushing Ave., Brooklyn, New York is recalling "Chi Ling Gourmet Foods Hot Olive" due to the presence of undeclared sulfites. 

The recalled "Chi Ling Gourmet Foods Hot Olive" is packaged in an uncoded 200 gram, clear plastic bag and were distributed nationwide. It is a product of Taiwan.

Consumers who have purchased "Chi Ling Gourmet Foods Hot Olive" should contact Vivian Chen of Tiffany Food Corp at (718) 326-2667.

California Firm Recalls Ready-To-Eat Pork Skin Products Produced Without Inspection

The following product is subject to recall:

• 10-pound, plastic-lined bags of "Camacho's Foods PS., URUAPAN, CHICHARRONES, (FRYED PORK SKIN)." Each product bears the establishment number "EST. 34241" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Frontera Produce Recalls One Lot of Cilantro 

Frontera Produce, of Edinburg, TX, is recalling one lot of cilantro because it has the potential to be contaminated with salmonella. 

The lot in question, 118122, was distributed to two retail store chains in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Louisiana, and New Mexico. Both chains were provided with case tag identification and have been advised of the recall. Frontera Produce is issuing this recall as an additional measure to advise consumers to destroy the cilantro described above, purchased between July 20, 2009 and July 27, 2009. The cilantro bunches in question have a white twist tie with pink lettering spelling the word 'Cilantro' and the UPC number 033383801049.

Fireside Coffee Co. Recalls Chai Tea 

Fireside Coffee Co. Swartz Creek, MI  is recalling all Fireside Chai Tea that contains dry milk because of potential Salmonella contamination.  

The Fireside Coffee Co. Chai Tea affected by this recall was distributed nationwide in retail stores, through mail orders and at art fairs.  The Chai tea under recall comes in the following four flavors: Spiced, Chocolate, Vanilla and Decaf Vanilla.  All four flavors come in a variety of package sizes including a 12oz. box, a 1 lb. sampling bag, 5 lb. bulk packages and single serving packets.  The lot number is printed on the bag for each package size and only the following lot numbers are included:

Indian Groceries & Spices, Inc. Issues Recall for Nirav Golden Raisins 

Indian Groceries & Spices, Inc. of Skokie, IL is recalling Nirav Golden Raisins because it may contain undeclared sulfites.  

The Nirav Golden Raisins were distributed between November, 2008 and July 24, 2009 to retail stores in Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Iowa and Tennessee.  All products purchased from November, 2008 through July 24, 2009 are affected by this recall. The firm sold less then 6000 lbs. of the raisins.

The raisins were sold in 7 oz. and 14 oz. plastic bags under the Nirav brand.  There are no lot numbers on the packages.  The 14 oz. bags have UPC 0 24433 01025 2 and the 7 oz bags have UPC 0 24433 01027 6.  Also Raisins were packed in 2 lbs,5lbs,10lbs and 20 lbs. There is no upc code on these bags.

Consumers who have purchased Nirav Golden Raisins are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Tanimura & Antle Recalls One Lot of Romaine Lettuce 

Tanimura & Antle, Inc. of Salinas, Calif. is recalling one lot of romaine lettuce because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.   

The cartons of bulk or wrapped romaine being recalled are marked with the lot code 531380 and were harvested June 25 - July 2. This recall includes only this single lot of romaine; no other products are involved.

The recalled romaine was sold to retail, wholesale and food service outlets in Canada, Puerto Rico and the following 29 states: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Texas, Massachusetts, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, North Carolina, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, Utah, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

The recalled fresh cilantro (coriander) was sold July 13-16, 2009 in 15 pound, black plastic crates to individuals and companies through cash sales at Sweet Superior Fruit LTD. Co., 2501 W. Military Hwy., Suite #A-5 and A-6, McAllen, Texas. The product may have been further sold through direct retail sales in McAllen, Texas and surrounding areas or used as an ingredient to manufacture additional products.

Individuals and companies who purchased fresh cilantro (coriander) from Sweet Superior Fruit LTD. Co., July 13-16, 2009, should immediately discontinue use of the product. Companies should make efforts to recall the product from customers and consumers who may have purchased the product and ask them to return or throw it away.

Opteron 1 Inc. dba Nature & Health Co.,  is conducting a nationwide recall of the company's five supplement products sold under the following names: LibieXtreme, Y-4ever, Libimax X Liquid, Powermania Liquid and Capsule, Herbal Disiac.

The Company has been informed that lab analysis of these five samples found they contains either tadalafil, an active ingredient of an FDA-approved drug for erectile dysfunction (ED) , its analog aminotadalafil, or the analog of sidenafil, an active ingredient of another FDA-approved ED drug, making these products unapproved drugs. None of the active drug ingredients are listed on the product labels.  The undeclared ingredients may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs such as nitroglycerin and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels. Consumers with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease often take nitrates. Additionally, the product may cause side effects, such as headaches and flushing.

Haloteco Issues A Nationwide Recall of Libipower Plus, a Product Marketed as a Dietary Supplement 

Haloteco is recalling the company's product sold under the name Libipower Plus.

Trans-Packers Services Corp. of Brooklyn, NY, has added 300 packets to its recall of 6,300 packets (net wt. 100g) of Dairy Shake blends.  Such Dairy Shake blends contain instant non-fat dry milk that have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria.  The 300 additional packets were sold to a company in Tennessee.

The product affected by this recall includes single-serve packets of Dairy Shake blend packaged in a preformed barrier pouch, which were distributed through Emergency Essentials, Inc. and Saratoga Trading Company located in Orem, Bluffdale and Saratoga Springs, Utah and D&B Specialty Foods, Inc. in Johnson City, Tennessee. 

The particular blends and affected lot numbers are:

* 6,000 packets of Strawberry/Banana Flavor Dairy Shake lot # 8324;

* 300 packets of Chocolate Flavor Dairy Shake lot ## 8297 and 8318;

Malt-O-Meal Company Expands Recall of Maple & Brown Sugar

Malt-O-Meal Company expanded the recall of certain single serve packets of “Maple & Brown Sugar Instant Oatmeal” packets and “Maple & Brown Sugar Instant Oatmeal” packets sold in “Variety” cartons to include additional carton date codes. The recalled product has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria.

The revision includes one additional package size of Mom’s Best Natural Variety Pack and a small number of additional production dates, but does not expand the list of affected instant oatmeal brands or flavors. All affected product was packaged in cartons with date codes between June 30, 2009 and November 12, 2010.

Country Creations Recalls Frosting Packets 

Country Creations is recalling packets of frosting because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

The frosting packets are included with Country Creations Braided Bread and Country Creations Cinnamon Rolls distributed to frozen food distributors nationwide. These frosting packets were produced and distributed between September 1, 2008 and June 12, 2009. The frosting packets are packaged in small clear plastic pouches measuring approximately three (3) inches by five and one-quarter (5-1/4) inches that have no identifying information and contain two (2) to three and one-half (3-1/2) ounces of frosting. These frosting packets were only included in braided bread and cinnamon roll boxes. The only component of the product that represents a potential hazard is the non-fat dried milk that is part of the frosting mix. 

The packet of frosting should not be used or consumed. Consumers who have any of the frosting packets are urged to destroy them.

'G Collection' Mother's Day and Valentine's Day Gift Boxes  

The 'G Collection' Mother's Day and Valentine's Day gift boxes that were available for purchase during limited holiday timeframes in 2009 are being recalled by Godiva Chocolatier, the distributor of the G Collection. 

This recall is being issued because one chocolate piece in the G Collection - the Praline Crunch – contains a dry nonfat milk ingredient which has reported potential salmonella contamination on its equipment. 

Consumers can identify these boxes by their distinctive color and shape. Mother's Day boxes were brown with lime green trim and Valentine’s Day boxes were brown with red trim. The logo, G Collection, is located at the bottom left corner on the top of the box. 

The G Collection is a line of hand crafted chocolates that has specific "consume by" dates printed on hangtags for each box to advise consumers of its 6-week shelf-life. While the 6-week shelf life period has long time passed for the Valentine's Day boxes and has largely passed for the Mother’s Day boxes.

The whole Anaheim Peppers were shipped June 9-19, 2009 to retail outlets in New York state, Ohio and Massachusetts. The Anaheim Peppers being recalled were shipped in half-bushel boxes with production lot number 0801206 located on a red sticker on the box. Boxes are white, wax cardboard, Herring Produce boxes with a printed picture of yellow squash and green zucchini.

Vital Pharmaceuticals Inc. of 15751 SW 41^st Street #300, Davie, Fl. 33331 is recalling 17 lots of the powdered dietary supplement, Stealth Chocolate and Stealth Vanilla, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

Stealth Vanilla and Stealth Chocolate was distributed Nationwide, including GNC Distribution Centers in Phoenix AZ; in Anderson, SC; and in Leetsdale, PA; and to VPX Sports Distribution Center in Weston, Fl; as well as Internationally.

The powdered product is packaged in 5lb blue, plastic jars with red band on around the top and bottom of the jar. The principal label bears the brand name of VPX and STEALTH, Muscle Amplification Lean Mass Gainer and the flavor in the lower 1/3; Vanilla Blast or Chocolate Rush. The production code and the expiration date are imprinted on the side panel above the Supplement Facts. The powdered product was also packaged in foil pouches as samples.

Kowalke Family Sprouts of Los Angeles CA is recalling all Kowalke Family Sprouts Brand Alfalfa Products with sell-by dates from June 18 through June 30 because they may be contaminated with Salmonella.

Traditions Meal Solutions is recalling approximately 104,500 packets of 25 gram non-fat dry milk packets because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

The non-fat dry milk packets are components of Traditions Meal Solutions shelf stable meal kits distributed to food distributors and regional nutrition service providers located in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, Nebraska, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. These meal kits were distributed between January 8, 2008 and June 15, 2009. The meal kits are packaged in small white boxes that have no identifying information and contain single-serve food items. These shelf stable meal kits were not available for individual consumer purchase. The only component of the shelf stable meal kit that represents a potential hazard is the non-fat dried milk. The non-fat dried milk packets are white and are approximately 5” by 4” and labeled with lot numbers from 19047 to 21203.

robertstjohn.com is recalling its Rich, Rich, Rich Hot Chocolate Mix, after learning equipment used at a supplier’s facility may have been contaminated with Salmonella.  

The Robert St.John product under recall is packaged in 13 ounce plastic bags with the lot #20494 printed on the bag. The bag is packaged inside a metal tin can.  Approximately 560 tin cans of the mix were sold to stores in Mississippi between November 18, 2008 and December 20, 2008. The stores have been notified and the product has been removed from their shelves.

Malt-O-Meal Company is recalling “Maple & Brown Sugar Instant Oatmeal” and “Maple & Brown Sugar Instant Oatmeal” packets sold in “Variety” cartons, with carton date codes between June 30, 2009 and October 28, 2010 because it maybe contaminated with Salmonella bacteria.

The product affected by this recall includes single-serve packets of “Maple & Brown Sugar Instant Oatmeal” and “Maple & Brown Sugar Instant Oatmeal” packets sold in “Variety” cartons distributed nationally under a variety of brands in cartons of 6 to 15 packets. Brands include Cub Foods, Diamond Crystal, Fastco, Flavorite, Foodland, Good ‘n Hearty, Hearty Traditions, Hy-Top, IGA, Mom’s Best Natural, Megaroons, Millville, Our Family, Richfood, Shop ‘n Save and Smart Menu.

Precision Foods Inc., of St. Louis, Missouri, is recalling certain Madagascar Vanilla cocoa as a precaution given that the potential exists that the product may be contaminated with Salmonella.  

The cocoa product that is the subject of this recall is labeled as Land O Lakes International Drinking Cocoa “Madagascar Vanilla”.  The product is packed in 12.5 ounce foil bags marked with “Best By 09/04/10” or “Best By 11/05/10” in the lower right hand corner of the rear panel of the package.  The UPC is 8 78326 00071 0.  This is the only product involved in this recall.

The product was distributed nationally in retail stores and through mail orders.

Meijer Brand Instant Non-fat Dry Milk was sold in Meijer stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. Meijer has removed all identified products from its stores.

The product under recall is Meijer Instant Non-fat Dry Milk, 10 QT Packets, UPC # 00000000-41250-96746-0, with the following two sell-by dates: FEB0911S and FEB1011S. The sell-by date is printed on the top of the box by the opening.

Meijer requests that customers who have purchased these products destroy the product or return them to any Meijer location for a full refund. North Coast Seafood is recalling Fresh Tuna Steaks

North Coast Seafood has is recalling Fresh Tuna Steaks that were sold at Shaw’s, Star Market and Big Y Stores in New England 

The recalled product was sold between June 20th thru June 24th to retail stores throughout New England and was removed from sale on June 24,  The product was recalled because of possible elevated levels of histamine that may result in symptoms that generally appear within minutes to an hour after eating the affected fish.

Customers who purchased this tuna and may have frozen it, are urged to bring the product back to the store for a full refund or replacement.
