Manufacturer for Wegmans Brand Sorbet Issues Recall for Undeclared Milk on a Limited Number of Wegmans Brand Sorbets

The manufacturer of Wegmans Sorbet is recalling a limited number of 16 oz. Wegmans brand Sorbets because they may contain undeclared milk. People who have an allergy to milk run the risk of a serious or possible life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the affected products listed below.

The products were distributed throughout Wegmans Food Markets located in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, and Maryland.

The sorbets are packaged in 16 oz. paperboard containers and sold in the supermarkets’ ice cream section. All four sorbet flavors: Lemon, Raspberry, Green Apple, and Pink Grapefruit, are affected by this recall. The affected products contain the following "BEST USED BY" date codes on the bottom of the container:

A review of records discovered that product containing milk was packaged in cartons that were not labeled for the presence of milk. Subsequent investigation indicates the cross contamination was caused by a breakdown in the company's production process, which has been corrected.

Consumers who have purchased Wegmans Sorbet with the affected code dates and flavors may return it to Wegmans for a full refund.

S&S Foods LLC., an Azusa, Calif., firm, is recalling approximately 153,630 pounds of frozen ground beef products because they may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.

The following products subject to recall include:  

30-pound boxes of “742798 MFST, 100% GROUND BEEF BULK, 80/20, 1LB. BRICK.” 

These boxes of frozen ground beef products bear the establishment number “EST. 20375” inside the USDA mark of inspection, and a case code beginning “06238” ink-jet printed on the side of the box. This product was intended for food service and institutional use and not for direct retail purchase.

The shipping containers and product labels bear the establishment number “EST. 19336” inside the USDA mark of inspection as well as the brand “Coleman Natural.” However, these products were sent to establishments and retail stores nationwide for further processing and will likely not bear the establishment number “EST. 19336” on products available for direct consumer purchase.

Nebraska Firm Expands Recall of Beef Products Due To Possible E. Coli O157:H7 Contamination 

Nebraska Beef, Ltd., an Omaha, Neb., establishment, is clarifying information from and expanding its recall announced on Aug. 8 of primal cuts, subprimal cuts and boxed beef to include such products bearing the company name "Nebraska Beef Ltd" that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. 

The total amount of product subject to recall is approximately 1.36 million pounds. The expansion of approximately 160,000 pounds and the clarifying information include:

Poundage of products bearing the green sticker were included in the 1.2 million pounds originally recalled, but were not identified in the product description with the company name "Nebraska Beef Ltd." in the Aug. 8 announcement.

These products were sent to establishments and retail stores nationwide for further processing and will likely not bear the establishment number "EST. 19336" on products available for direct consumer purchase.

Whole Foods Market® Issues Recall on 365 Organic Everyday Value™ Popcorn, Lightly Salted Due to Undeclared Dairy Allergen

Whole Foods Market today is recalling 365 Organic Everyday Value Popcorn, Lightly Salted because it may contain undeclared milk ingredients. The popcorn in these packages was incorrectly flavored with a white cheddar seasoning which includes milk ingredients; the seasoning may not be visibly apparent. 

This product was distributed to and sold in Whole Foods Market retail stores in California, Arizona, Nevada, Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington D.C, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Oregon, New Jersey, New York and Washington.

The product is sold in a blue and white 5 ounce bag with a picture of popcorn in a red and white container. The product is labeled as 365 Organic Everyday Value Organic Popcorn, Lightly Salted with a UPC of 9948240552. The recalled product's lot code is stamped on the front top right corner and reads "Sell By 10/28/08" or "Sell By 10/29/08".

Peppers Unlimited, Inc. of Fontana California is recalling 580 cases of La Torre Jalapeno Nacho Slices because of possible product contamination caused by a chemical reaction between the product and the can potentially resulting in a swollen and/or ruptured container and significant off flavor.

The recalled products were sold nationwide through food distributors and food retailers.

The Jalapeno Nacho Slices were sold in 425 gram cans and bear the following description:

Yellow, red, white and black label with a picture of Jalapeno Slices.
The La Torre logo is in black and the "Jalapeno Nacho Slices" is in white.

Interior Alaska Fish Processors, Inc. Recalls Santa's Smokehouse Brand Smoked Keta Salmon

Interior Alaska Fish Processors, Inc. of Fairbanks, AK is recalling some of its Santa's Smokehouse brand smoked keta salmon because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. 

The recalled product was sold in random weight portions and packaged in clear plastic vacuum sealed bags with the Santa's Smokehouse "teriyaki style smoked keta salmon" label on it. The only batch subject to the recall will be labeled with the batch number '637', found on the Santa's Smokehouse label. Approximately 150 pounds of this product was distributed through the company's retail store in Fairbanks, Alaska and through gift packs sold on the internet between mid December 2007 and July, 2008. 

If you have any Santa's Smokehouse smoked keta salmon with the batch number '637' please return it to Interior Alaska Fish Processors, Inc. with the label for a full refund.

Kentucky Firm Recalls Frozen Stuffed Pepperoni Pizza Sandwich Products That May Contain Foreign Materials 

Nestlé Prepared Foods Company, a Mt. Sterling, Ky., establishment, is recalling approximately 215,660 pounds of frozen stuffed pepperoni pizza sandwich products that may contain foreign materials.

The following products are subject to recall:  

54-ounce, 12-pack cartons of "HOT POCKETS PEPPERONI PIZZA" brand stuffed sandwiches. Printed on the side of each carton is "8157544614D," "EST 7721A," and "BEST BEFORE JAN2010." Each carton bears the USDA mark of inspection. 

The products were produced on June 5 and distributed to retail establishments nationwide.

"Fresh from the Deli" American Sub Sandwich Recalled by Landshire, Inc. 

Landshire, Inc. is recalling its American Sub sandwich because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes.

The American Sub sandwiches were distributed in the Midwestern States of:  Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Pennsylvania.  The product was sold to Circle K Convenience Stores exclusively.  There were 812 sandwiches produced on lot number 21882.

The sandwich label identifies it as: "Fresh from the Deli" American Sub.  This is a pre-packaged, individually wrapped (clear plastic) with a black tray inside of package.  Sandwich weight is 9.75ounces (276grams).  UPC code is 9748800540.  The sandwiches involved have a lot number of 21882.  The lot number is printed in black ink on the side of the package.

Consumers who have purchased the "Fresh from the Deli" American Sub are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Quality Food Centers (QFC) is recalling five deli tuna salad items sold at some QFC stores in Washington and Oregon. Salad dressing used to make these items may contain milk not listed on the label. Customers should return the product to stores for a refund or replacement.

Trans Ocean Products Recalls "Cracked Pepper Style Smoked Salmon" LOT No 54933-2 Because of Possible Health Risks

Trans-Ocean Products, Inc. of Bellingham, Washington is recalling its 4 ounce Cracked Pepper Style Smoked Salmon Lot No 54933-2 because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Cracked Pepper Style Smoked Salmon, 4 ounce packages were distributed to three supermarket chains in seven states: Brookshire Brothers in Texas and Louisiana; Price Choppers in New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Vermont; and Giant Eagle in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

The product is sliced cold-smoked salmon with black pepper. It is vacuum packaged in a resealable purple plastic pouch and bears the brand name Trans Ocean Products.The lot number is ink jetted on the back panel of the package, just right of center.
