Monterey Mushrooms Recalls Fresh Sliced White and Baby Bella Mushrooms

Monterey Mushrooms of Watsonville, CA is recalling approximately 10,000 cases of fresh sliced white mushrooms and fresh sliced baby bella mushrooms, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Fresh sliced mushrooms were distributed from Monterey's location in Temple, PA into the northeastern states of Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia through retail stores and produce market channels.

These fresh sliced mushrooms were packaged for retail stores in 4 oz, 6 oz, 8 oz, and 16 oz foam tills and 10 oz plastic bags with code dates 237 through 247.

The company believes the source of potential contamination has been identified and corrected, effective September 5, 2006.

Most product has already been removed from distribution. All OTHER sliced mushrooms from Monterey's Temple, PA facility should be considered safe as of this date.

Consumers who have purchased Monterey Mushrooms' fresh sliced white or Baby Bella mushrooms in these states are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Lakeside Foods Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Wheat and Egg In Product

Lakeside Foods, Inc. announced that it is recalling 7500 packages of frozen 14 ounce Kroger Stir Fry Vegetables because they may contain undeclared egg noodles, which contain both wheat or eggs ingredients.

The Kroger brand Stir Fry Vegetables were produced by Lakeside Foods in Manitowoc, Wisconsin and are sold in Kroger grocery stores in the following states: Ohio, Michigan, West Virginia, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri and Kentucky. The recalled packages will have the two-line code of W46124/W610002 printed on the back of the package.

Kroger employees and retailers are removing the product from store shelves. Consumers can return the product to their place of purchase for a full refund.

Raw Indulgence Announces Nationwide Recall of Raw Revolution Organic Live Food Bars

Raw Indulgence, Ltd. is recalling approximately 8000 food bars described below because they may contain metal fragments:

Raspberry and Chocolate [red wrapper]: Net Wt. 2.2 oz. (64 g), Lot 060907 and UPC 899587000257 (bar); Date Code EXP060907 and UPC 899587000332 (box); AND
Raisin and Chocolate [purple wrapper]: Net Wt. 2.2 oz. (64g), Lot 060907 and UPC 899587000240 (bar); Date Code EXP060907 and 899587000325 (box).

The company's investigation of several recent complaints has led us to conclude that a single metal washer may have fallen into a mixing vat during production on June 9, 2006, resulting in metal fragments being discovered in some food bars made that day. People who bite into or swallow the metal fragments could possibly be injured. The company believes that only these flavor bars made on that day may potentially contain metal fragments, and therefore is only recalling the bars made on June 9, 2006. No other flavors or other lot numbers of the Raspberry and Chocolate or Raisin and Chocolate flavors are affected by the recall.

The bars were distributed nationwide to distributors and retail stores and possibly through some internet sales.

The Raspberry and Chocolate food bars are packaged in red & black colored wrappers. The Raisin and Chocolate food bars are packaged in purple & black colored wrappers. The bars are sold individually, and there are 12 bars per display box.

Abbott Issues a Recall for One Lot Of Alimentum, Two Lots of Similac Advance Liquid Infant Formula Ready-To-Feed 32-Ounce Plastic Bottles and One Lot of Hospital Discharge Kits

Abbott's Ross Products Division announced that it is recalling the following lots of liquid ready-to-feed infant formula in 32-ounce plastic bottles:

One lot of Similac Alimentum Advance liquid ready-to-feed infant formula (Stock Code #57512, Lot #401895V, use-by 1 May 2007 -- printed on the back of the bottle)
Two lots of Similac Advance with Iron liquid ready-to-feed infant formula (Stock Code #55961, Lots #40177RH and #40172RH, use-by 1 November 2007 – printed on the back of the bottle)
Additionally, one lot of Similac Advance Hospital Discharge Kits may have included some of the affected 32-ounce plastic bottles. The lot number for these discharge kits (Stock Code #58986, Lot #41699D5) can be found on the back of the bear tag attached to the kit.

Abbott is initiating this recall because some bottles from these lots may not contain as much vitamin C as indicated on the label. Abbott discovered this problem as a result of consumer complaints for an unusually dark formula color. This problem is due to an isolated bottle defect, which has been corrected by the third-party supplier of the bottles.

No other liquid or powder infant formula products are involved with this recall.

These infant formula lots were distributed between May 18, 2006, and September 5, 2006, in the United States, Puerto Rico and Guam. If consumers have purchased any of the specific lots mentioned above at retail or received them from hospitals or doctor's offices, they should contact Abbott’s Ross Products Division at 1-800-624-3412. Abbott will replace product from these lots free of charge.

This recall was initiated when Natural Selections Foods issued a nation-wide recall of all their products that contain spinach because they may be contaminated with Escherichia coli 0157:H7 bacteria (E. coli).

The recalled products were distributed in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana to Retail stores and Deli's. The salad products were sold in a hard plastic clamshell container with a "Use By" date of 08/22/2006 to 09/20/2006 located on the bottom of the container.

Pacific Coast Fruit Company Recalls Spinach Salad Products and Pizza

Pacific Coast Fruit Company of Portland, Oregon is recalling products that may include spinach supplied by Natural Selections Foods a California Grower and Processor. The products listed below may be contaminated with Escherichia coli 0157:H7 bacteria. (E.Coli 0157:H7)

Products include:

Baby Spring Mix Salad Kit (4.6 lbs)
Chef on the Run- Bacon Spinach Salad (9oz plus 2fl oz dressing)
Chef on the Run- Spring Greens Salad (5oz plus 2fl oz dressing)
Chef on the Run- Willamette Valley Salad (10oz plus 2fl oz dressing)
Trader Joe's- Baby Spinach and Greens with Bleu Cheese, Candied Pecans and Cranberries with Raspberry Vinaigrette Dressing (10oz)
Trader Joe's- Baby Greens and Spinach Salad with Wild Maine Blueberry Dressing (10oz)
Mediterranean Veggie Blend Kit- 15 lbs
My Brothers Pizza Spinach and Garlic- 15oz and 36oz.

Product listed were distributed through various retail outlets in Alaska, Oregon, Washington and Idaho. There is no international distribution.

Most Salad Products can be identified by the labels Trader Joe's, My Brothers Pizza or Chef on the Run. Salad containers are easily identified in "clam shells". Pizza products are easily identified as they are on "round cardboard bottoms with a plastic over wrap". All salad products will have a "USE BY DATE" on or before Sept 20, 06. Pizza products will have a "USE BY DATE" on or before September 23, 06.
