Starway Inc. Issues Recalls Ego Brand Preserved Peaches

Starway Incorporated is recalling EGO brand Preserved Peaches because the product contains undeclared sulfites. 

EGO brand Preserved Peaches is sold in a 14 ounce, un-coded, clear plastic package and was distributed nationwide. It is a product of Malaysia.

Consumers who have purchased EGO brand Preserved Peaches are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

T. Marzetti Company Recalls a Limited Number of Girard's Honey Dijon Peppercorn

T. Marzetti Company, Columbus, Ohio is recalling a limited number of 12 fl. oz. bottles of Girard's Honey Dijon Peppercorn (item 58105) because they may have the incorrect back label of Girard's French Dressing (item 58015). The Girard's Honey Dijon Peppercorn contains eggs, which is not declared as an ingredient on the Girard's French label. 

The bottles were shipped in corrugated cases marked with the item number 58105 and with a date code of Best By 06-11-09M. The 12 fl. oz. bottles are labeled with "Girard's Honey Dijon Peppercorn" on the front, the back of the bottle may be labeled with Girard's French Dressing (item 58015), with the date code of Best By 06-11-09M. No other date codes are involved in the recall.

The recalled bottles of Girard's Honey Dijon Peppercorn Dressing were distributed throughout the western United States (primarily California, Washington, and Oregon).

Consumers who have purchased 12 fl. oz. bottles of Girard's Honey Dijon Peppercorn with the incorrect back label are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

The Hershey Company Announces Recall of Hershey’s Chocolate Shell Topping Due to Undeclared Almonds

The Hershey Company today announced a recall of 7.25-ounce plastic bottles of Hershey's Chocolate Shell Topping because they contain undeclared almonds. 

The only 7.25-ounce bottles of Hershey's Chocolate Shell Topping affected have the code 69N printed on the back of the bottle below the UPC symbol. The UPC/Bar Code is 346000. The item in question was available for purchase nationwide after July 8, 2008.

Sprouters Northwest, Inc. Recalls Alfalfa Sprout Products Because of Possible Health Concern

Sprouters Northwest, Inc. of Kent, Washington is recalling its alfalfa sprout products (alfalfa sprouts, onion sprouts, and salad sprouts) because they may be linked to a recent outbreak of Salmonellosis in Oregon and Washington State. 

The recalled sprouts were distributed in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alasks in retail stores and through wholesale produce suppliers.

The products are Sprouters Northwest brand and include all lot numbers with a best by date of 9/17/08 or earlier of:  5oz alfalfa sprout cups UPC - 033383701417, 4oz alfalfa clamshells UPC-815098001088, 1lb bags of alfalfa sprouts UPC - 079566123508, 2lb trays of alfalfa sprouts UPC – 079566123492, 5oz salad cups UPC - 033383702674, 4oz salad clamshells UPC - 815098002061, 5oz alfalfa onion sprout cups UPC - 033383701905, and 4oz onion sprout clamshells UPC – 815098002054.

Recall of Patak's Dopiaza Cooking Sauce

ACH Food Companies, Inc. of Memphis, Tennessee is recalling its Patak's® Dopiaza Cooking Sauce sold in the United States because it may contain an undeclared milk allergen. ACH Food Companies is notifying its distributors and stores that carry this product that it contains an undeclared milk allergen and to immediately remove it from distribution.

The product is sold under two different labels, "Patak's® Rich Tomato and Onion Cooking Sauce Dopiaza (Mild)" and "Patak's® Dopiaza Curry Cooking Sauce Mild." The recall only applies to products sold in the United States and no other Patak's® products other than these two labels are affected by this recall.

Consumers who have purchased this product with either of these labels and with a "Best By Date" on or before February 2010 should return the unused portion of the product to the store from which they purchased the item for reimbursement or call ACH Food Company's Consumer Hotline at 800-726-3648 to receive a coupon for another Patak's® product.

Wegmans In-Store Made Bagels

Rochester, NY - Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. is recalling all varieties of its in-store made bagels and bialys (flattened bagels with various toppings, i.e. pizza) sold in the bakery and purchased between August 24 and September 9, 2008. This recall is being initiated because the bagels may contain pieces of a metal spring from a mixer that entered the dough, which is produced at Wegmans' Central Bakeshop in Rochester, posing a possible choking hazard. (Note: This recall does not affect Wegmans' packaged bagels in the dairy or frozen food departments.)

The in-store made bagels were sold in Wegmans' stores located in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia and Maryland. Wegmans estimates that approximately 1,011 cases of potentially affected bagels were produced, representing a small percentage of all bagels produced and sold during this period. 

Customers may return the product to Wegmans for a full refund.

Wegmans Expands Dates of Bagel Recall and Includes Additional Bakery Products

  Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. has expanded the recall of in-store made bagels and bialys.  The recall is now expanded to include Challah bread and in-store baked bagels, bialys and rolls. These products were sold in Wegmans’ bakery department between June 19 and September 11, 2008.  

The recall was initiated because a mixer part (metal spring) may have entered the dough, which is produced at Wegmans’ Central Bakeshop in Rochester, posing a possible choking hazard.

Lucky Country Inc. Recalls All Natural Black Licorice Products

Lucky Country Inc. of Lincolnton, NC is recalling all of its natural black licorice products from California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia, and Washington State due to elevated levels of lead.

Recent tests showed that Lucky Country Aussie Style Soft Gourmet Licorice Black (All Natural) in 1.5 lb bags contained a lead level exceeding the level permitted in candy. Because of this finding, Lucky Country is recalling all of its Lucky Country Aussie Style Soft Gourmet Licorice Black (All Natural) from the market. In addition to the 1.5 lb bags, Lucky Country also manufactures this natural black licorice product in 6 oz and 3 lb bags, and in a 1 lb tub. Consumers are advised to check to see if they have this product in their possession and should either dispose of it or return it to their retail outlet for a full refund.

Ralston Foods, Division of Ralcorp Holdings, Inc. is recalling 14664 cartons of Western Family Variety Pack Instant Oatmeal cereal bearing the "Best If Used By" Date Code of "DEC0409N" (found on the box top) because a small number of cartons contain an undeclared milk ingredient. 

Western Family Variety Pack Instant Oatmeal cereal was distributed by Western Family Foods, Inc. to stores in Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. The product is packaged in cartons weighing 13.8 oz. containing 10 packets of instant oatmeal.

Bimbo Bakeries USA Issues Recall on Undeclared Tree Nuts in Oroweat 100% Whole Wheat Bread Packaging

Bimbo Bakeries USA today announced a recall of Oroweat 100% Whole Wheat bread because it may contain tree nuts that are not listed on the label. 

The bread was baked at the company's Denver plant and sold at retail locations in five states: Iowa, Wyoming, Nebraska, Colorado and New Mexico. There was also very limited distribution in the Moab, Utah area. Areas outside these states are not affected. No other Oroweat products are involved in this recall.

How to Identify the Product

The affected product has red, blue or tan closure tabs with a “Best By” date of 9/22, 9/23 or 9/25 on the tab.

Consumers who are not allergic to tree nuts can safely consume the product. Consumers can return the product to the store where it was purchased for an exchange or refund.

Mom's Food Products, Inc. Issues Recall For Sandwiches and Potato Salad

Mom's Food Products, Inc. of Ft Worth, TX is recalling all Tuna Salad sandwiches, Pimento Cheese sandwiches, and potato salad because they may contain eggs in the salad dressing.  

Product was distributed in the Texas area through retail stores or direct delivery. 

The tuna salad and pimento cheese sandwiches are packaged in black plastic wedges and the potato salad is in clear round containers included as part of Mom's Big Sub sandwich packages.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that an ingredient change in salad dressing was not reported by Mom's supplier.

CaJohns Fiery Foods Company Recalls HDH Grillin' Sauce

CaJohns Fiery Foods Company is recalling a total of 103 individual bottles of HDH Grillin' Sauce sold between the dates of 01/01/07 and 09/15/08. This recall is initiated due to the possibility of non-declared contents on the Ingredient Declaration. The products contain the listed Worcestershire Sauce, but may not be parenthetically listed as to it's ingredients one of which is Anchovies, a serious allergen to specific individuals. These products also contain the listed Soy Sauce, but may not be parenthetically listed as to it's ingredients. Soy Sauce contains Soybeans and Wheat which are serious allergens to specific individuals.

The recalled barbeque sauces were distributed nationwide through retailers, mail order and web sites.

The products come in 16 ounce glass bottles. The lot numbers affected are 249242, 249298, 249304, 249154, 249181, 249197. These are found on a label on the bottle bottom.

CaJohns Fiery Foods will be issuing a new label to those affected distributors and retailers. All deliveries of product after 09/15/08 contain the new labeling. All stores affected by this recall should contact the manufacturer to acquire new labels.

Mr. Brown instant coffee and milk tea products are being recalled by the Taiwanese company, King Car Food Industrial Co. Ltd., due to possible contamination with melamine.  The recalled products are:

QFCO, Inc. of Burlingame, California is recalling White Rabbit Candy because it may be contaminated with Melamine.

Food Evolution., a Schiller Park, IL, firm, is recalling approximately 16 pounds of ready-to-eat turkey product that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

 The following product is subject to recall:

13-ounce individually wrapped packages of "Turkey Burrito Wrap." Each package bears the establishment number "P-34309" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The ready-to-eat turkey product was produced on Sept. 24, and was sent to retail establishments and institutions in the Chicago metropolitan area.
