Krisp-Pak Company, Inc. Recalls Fresh Cut Fruit Because of Possible Health Risk

Krisp-Pak Company, Inc. of Norfolk, VA is recalling all lots of Krisp-Pak Brand packaged fresh cut fruit with expiration dates on or before 11/09/06, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The product comes in plastic containers in 4 ounce cups, 8 ounce cups, 1 pound cups, 3 pound tubs, 10" trays (2.5 pounds) and 13" trays (4.5 pounds) for retail suppliers. The product is packaged in 5 pound trays for foodservice suppliers. The products being recalled include individually packaged cantaloupe or honeydew or red grapes, and a mixture of the three. The recall is limited to these products only.

The recalled fresh cut fruit was distributed in the Hampton Roads and Richmond, VA areas and the Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh, NC areas through retail stores and foodservice distribution centers.

Consumers who have purchased Krisp-Pak Brand fresh cut fruit are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Archway Cookies LLC, a Battle Creek, MI company, is recalling approximately 633 packages of only the 13.75oz Classic Oatmeal Big Batch Homestyle Cookies® because a small number of those packages may not indicate the presence of an undeclared allergen (tree nuts, specially walnuts). Some of the cookies subject to recall contain tree nuts (walnuts), but the product labels indicate only that the products may contain traces of peanuts and tree nuts as part of the cookies' ingredient mixture. 

The cookies subject to recall are Archway Classic Big Batch Homestyle Cookies®. Each package bears the date code "Best Before Jan 11 07 AX." The cookies were packaged on October 19, 2006 and were distributed to retail stores in the eastern half of the United States, specifically in states east of the Mississippi River. The Hershey Company today announced that it is recalling 7 (seven), 7.25-ounce bottles of REESE'S Shell Topping manufactured in Canada on October 27, 2006, due to possible contamination with Salmonella.

The 7 (seven), 7.25 ounce bottles of REESE'S Shell Topping have the code 30MXB printed on the back of the bottle below the cap. The UPC/Bar Code is 346010. No other Hershey's shell toppings or other Hershey confectionery items are involved in this recall. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The product in question was available for purchase only in the state of Michigan after November 5, 2006.

Timco Worldwide Inc. of Woodland, CA is recalling its Sundia brand cantaloupe, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

Five hundred and four (504) cartons of cantaloupe were distributed in Phoenix, Arizona; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Dallas, Texas; and Okeechobee, Florida between October 30th and November 6th, 2006. The cantaloupe was distributed for sale in bulk in cardboard cartons, numbering either 9 or 15 cantaloupes to a carton, under the Sundia label. The cantaloupes are straw- colored on the exterior, with orange flesh.

Consumers who have purchased Sundia cantaloupes are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Wegmans Issues Recall on Wegmans Italian Classics Lemon and Caper Sauce

Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. is recalling 11 oz. jars of Wegmans Italian Classics Lemon and Caper Sauce with a use-by date of 11/05/07 because they may contain pieces of glass which could cause injury or a choking hazard. The use-by date is located on the shoulder of the jar. No other code dates are being recalled.

The product was sold only at Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. located in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, and Maryland. The recalled product consists of 1,893 cases (12 jars per case) packed on November 5, 2005. 

Customers may return the product to Wegmans for a full refund.

Rio Vista, Ltd. Recalls Cantaloupes Nationwide Because of Possible Health Risk

Rio Vista, Ltd., of Rio Rico, Arizona, is recalling its Llano and Nature's Partner brand cantaloupes, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

Approximately, 62,640 cartons of cantaloupes were distributed in the U.S. and a small quantity went to Canada from October 31 to November 6, 2006. The cantaloupes were distributed for sale in bulk in cardboard cartons containing from 6 to 15 cantaloupes to a carton. The cantaloupes are straw-colored on the exterior, with orange flesh.

Consumers who have purchased Llano or Nature's Partner cantaloupes are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers who have purchased cantaloupes may contact the place of purchase to ask if the store sold the recalled brands.

Birds Eye Foods Is Recalling Frozen Cooked Winter Squash 

Birds Eye Foods is recalling frozen Cooked Winter Squash packed in a 12-oz. carton, under certain store brands, and the Birds Eye brand, which have an eight digit code beginning with one of the following characters: "5CF," "5JE" or "6JE," because some of the products were tainted with ammonia. No other Birds Eye Foods products are involved.

The Birds Eye brand frozen Cooked Winter Squash codes in question as well as store brand labels are distributed nationally. In total, these brand and store brand products represent approximately three million packages sold.

The Cooked Winter Squash was produced by a third party, Chase Farms, located in Walkerville, Mich., which has ceased production and distribution for Birds Eye Foods while it continues to investigate the problem.

Fresh Grill Recalls Smoked Turkey & Jack Cheese Sandwiches Due to Undeclared Anchovies

Fresh Grill of Santa Ana, California recalled 2056 units of SMOKED TURKEY & JACK CHEESE because it may have contained undeclared anchovies.  People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to anchovies run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

SMOKED TURKEY & JACK CHEESE is distributed in Southern California at 7-Eleven convenience stores.

On 10-12-2006 the wording “NATURAL FLAVORING, ANCHOVIES” was added to the label information on the product.

HoneyBaked Foods Inc., a Holland, Ohio, firm, is recalling approximately 46,941 pounds of cooked ham and turkey products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes,

The ham and turkey labels also state "Dist. by HONEYBAKED FOODS INC., HOLLAND, OH 49528."

The ham and turkey products were produced between September 5 and November 13, and were sold at the company's retail stores and kiosks in the Toledo, Ohio, region, as well as through internet and telephone catalogue sales nationwide. HoneyBaked Foods Inc. has contacted catalogue sale customers who purchased products subject to recall.
