The Dutch Kettle Recalls Hickory Barbecue Sauce Packed Under Various Private Labels

The Dutch Kettle, Bremen, IN 46506 is recalling 94 cases of 12/19 oz. glass (pint size) jars of HICKORY BBQ Sauce (barbecue sauce) packed under 35 private labels because it contains undeclared fish protein (anchovy) that was present in an ingredient used to make the sauce. 

The 94 cases of Hickory Barbecue sauce was distributed to 35 farm market type customers under each of their private labels in 13 states mostly in the eastern half of the United States. Most of the accounts were in Michigan, Indiana, New York and Illinois but there are also accounts in Arkansas, Georgia, Iowa, Missouri, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Utah. Product was shipped direct to the retailers from the manufacturer.

The product is packed in 19 oz. (pint) jars with metal lids and an attached body label. Each customer has an individual private label that begins with the store name (such as "Amish Country Store") followed by "Homestyle Hickory BBQ Sauce" can be identified initially by name Hickory BBQ Sauce and the name of the retailer (mainly farm markets) on the label.

Two lots of 50/12, 19 oz. jars were manufactured between 6/01/07 and 9/05/07. The first batch was coded "**70****W" and the second "SM70905W". The code is in a dot matrix format on the side (threaded portion) of the metal lid of the jar.

The different private labels were distributed in the various states as follows:

Ohio Firm Recalls Frozen Meat Pizzas Due to Possible E. coli O157:H7 Contamination

General Mills Operations, a Wellston, Ohio, establishment, is recalling an undetermined amount of frozen meat pizza products because they may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7 and may be linked to an outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 illnesses.

The following products are subject to recall: 


Each package also bears the establishment number "EST. 7750" inside the USDA mark of inspection as well as a "best if used by" date on or before "02 APR 08 WS." The company applies the "best if used by date" on the package based on a 155-day shelf life, however consumers are urged to look in their freezers for similar frozen pizza products and discard them if found.

The frozen meat pizza products subject to recall were produced on or before Oct. 30 and were distributed to retail establishments nationwide.

Oregon Firm Recalls Beef and Chicken Products due to Possible Adulteration

Annex Foods, a Portland, Ore., establishment, is recalling approximately 4,374 pounds of various cooked beef and chicken products that may be adulterated due to inadequate verification and documentation of processing activities as required by the establishment's Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) plan.

The following products are subject to recall:

  The Kroger Co. is recalling Kroger brand 16 oz. Light Caesar Salad Dressing with a Sell By date of May 09 08, a code of SA7221 and a UPC number: 0 11110-71765 8 on the back label.

The salad dressing is being recalled because the back label of the bottle was mislabeled with a Light Asian Salad Dressing label. 

The salad dressing may have been distributed to Kroger, Dillons, Food 4 Less (Chicago area only), Jay C, Smith's, Fry's, King Soopers, and City Market grocery stores. No other Kroger-brand salad dressings are affected by this recall.

Coffee Masters, Inc. Issues Recall for Undeclared Allergens in Chipper Gourmet Foods Biscotti

Coffee Masters, Inc., leading Midwest wholesale coffee roaster announced a recall for all of a Chipper With Coffee Biscotti, because it may contain undeclared protein derived from milk, eggs, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and/or soybeans allergens. Coffee Masters distributed this product on behalf of Chipper Gourmet Foods during the months of January – Sept 2007.

Chipper With Coffee Biscotti was distributed wholesale nationwide and could have been found in retail coffee shops. Coffee Masters, Inc. discontinued the distribution in early September, due to lack of sales and interest.

The product comes in a 1.75 ounce clear bag with hang tag. Flavors include Apple Cinnamon, Apricot Almond, Banana Walnut, Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Raspberry, Classic Almond, Mocha Chip, Pistachio Orange, Snickerdoodle, Cranberry Orange, German Chocolate, Maple Pecan, Triple Chocolate and Maple Walnut.

  Harry & David Operations Corp., of Medford, Oregon, is  recalling approximately 5880 tubs of the Milk & Dark Chocolate, White Chocolate Macadamia because they may contain macadamia nuts not declared on the ingredient statement, and 4400 tubs of the Peanut Butter, Milk Chocolate, Macadamia Nut because they may contain macadamia nuts and peanuts not declared on the ingredient statement.

The lot codes are ink jetted on the sides of the tubs in black ink.
