Pinnacle Foods Corporation Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Egg White Protein in "Hearty Hero Meatball Sandwiches" Mispacked in "Hearty Hero Cheeseburger Sandwich" Cartons

Pinnacle Foods Corporation of Mountain Lakes, NJ is recalling "Hearty Hero Meatball Sandwiches" mispacked in "Hearty Hero Cheeseburger Sandwich" Cartons. The meatballs contain egg white protein that is not listed on the Cheeseburger Sandwich Carton.

The "Hearty Hero Meatball Sandwiches" may have been distributed regionally through retail stores located only in the States of Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that some of the cartons labeled as "Hearty Hero Cheeseburger Sandwiches" may contain meatball sandwiches instead of cheeseburger sandwiches.

The UPC code for the "Hearty Hero Cheeseburger Sandwich" Cartons is: 51000 04350

The products being recalled are 9.00-lb. cases and individual sample pieces of "Maple Leaf Farms" brand "Oriental Seasoned Roast Half Duck" bearing the code "003515812" or 003515812PCS." The 9.00-lb. cases also bear the lot code "2340" and the establishment number "P-2375" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Problem/Reason for Recall:The product was mislabeled as "Oriental Seasoned Roast Half Duck." The "Roast Half Duckling with Szechwan Style Sauce" contains sesame seeds (a potential allergen) which is not listed in the ingredients statement on the label for the "Oriental Seasoned Roast Half Duck."

How/When Discovered:An employee in the distribution center discovered that "Roast Half Duckling with Szechwan Style Sauce" was mislabeled as "Oriental Seasoned Roast Half Duck." The firm investigated and concluded that the mislabeling involved only one day's production. The firm contacted FSIS and voluntarily initiated the recall.
