CON AGRA FOODS IS EXPANDING RECALL

ConAgra Foods, a Marshall, Mo., firm, is expanding its December 1 recall of approximately 9,550 pounds of various bologna, ham and turkey lunch meal products to a total of 2.8 million pounds due to possible contamination after cheese provided by its supplier tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.

The products subject to recall are:

The ham, bologna, turkey and chicken lunch meal products were produced on various dates between October 13 and December 3 and were distributed to retail establishments nationwide.

Sara Lee Food & Beverage Issues Precautionary Recall of Four Products Due to Possible Health Risks

Sara Lee Food & Beverage today announced that it is voluntarily recalling select cheeseburger and chicken biscuit products sold under the Jimmy Dean, Rudy's Farm and State Fair brands.

The company immediately took this precaution after it was notified by its cheese supplier that one of the supplier's cheese products could potentially contain Listeria monocytogenes.

As a precautionary measure, the company is recalling 40,572 pounds of product. 

The products being recalled are:

The Rudy's Farm products do not contain cheese but were manufactured on the same line as the Jimmy Dean and State Fair cheeseburger products.

This recall does not apply to any other Jimmy Dean, Rudy's Farm or State Fair brand product -- with or without cheese.

The products were distributed to grocery stores across the United States, Puerto Rico and Bermuda. Consumers who may have questions or concerns can call the company's toll-free consumer information line at (800) 925-3326 or reference the toll-free consumer information line provided on the product packages. Consumers may also throw out products involved in the recall or return products to grocery retailers where they were purchased.

Woodsmoke Provisions Issues Recall on 112 Packages of 4 oz. Premium Smoked Salmon Pastrami Style with Identifying Lot Code 301-05 855 Because of Possible Health Risk

  Woodsmoke Provisions, LLC is voluntarily recalling twenty eight pounds (28 lbs.) / 112 individual packages of Premium Smoked Salmon Pastrami Style packed in 4 oz. vacuum packages with the specific lot code 301-05 855 which was manufactured October 28th, 2005 and distributed through a limited number of The Fresh Market, Inc. stores located in FL, AL, TN, NC, VA, GA, and LA because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Consumers who have purchased the 4 oz. Premium Smoked Salmon Pastrami Style Woodsmoke Provisions brand product with the code 301-05 855 retailed at the above-mentioned stores should not consume it, and are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Harry & David Extends Recall of Black and Kalamata Olive Tapenade Because of Possible Health Risks

Harry & David Operations Corp., of Medford, Oregon, is recalling 360 jars of Black and Kalamata Olive Tapenade because they have the potential to be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum.

The Black and Kalamata Olive Tapenade was distributed throughout the United States only at Harry and David stores, and not distributed through mail order. The Black and Kalamata Olive Tapenade was distributed in 11 oz. glass jars. The lot code recalled is 28405-941H2. The lot code is ink jetted with black ink on the shoulder of the glass jar. The item number is located on an adhesive label on the bottom of the jar. The adhesive label states,

The date of distribution to the Harry and David store locations ranges from November 17 through December 12, 2005. One unconfirmed illness has been reported to date.

The product was produced by a co-packer, Enterprise Custom Foods, Orange, CA, for Harry and David.

Harry & David Operations Corp., issued a recall press release in November, for a different lot of this product. The lot number for that batch was 23405-941H2. Because two lots of this product have proved to be unstable, Harry & David Operations Corp., has removed this product from sale and is asking for return of any Black and Kalamata Olive Tapenade, of any lot, purchased after August 1, 2005. If unsure of purchase date, customers may return product for a refund.

Consumers who have purchased or received the Olive Tapenade product, and wish a refund should call Customer Service at 1-800-345-5655. Consumers with questions also may contact the company at 1-800-345-5655.

Heinz Frozen Foods, a Pocatello, Idaho, establishment, is recalling approximately 325 pounds of frozen pot roast dinners due to an undeclared allergen (dried whole eggs).

The package indicates that the product is beef pot roast, however, inside the package is meat loaf with mashed potatoes and gravy. The product contains dried whole eggs, a known allergen, which is not declared on the label.

The frozen dinners were produced on August 29, 2005 and were sold in retail stores in Tennessee and Kentucky. This product is not produced for any Boston Market restaurant and no other Boston Market product is affected.

Recall of Tropical Fruit Ackee Because of Possible Health Risks

FDA is announcing the recall of some shipments of ackee—a tropical fruit imported from Jamaica—because the fruit has levels of a naturally occurring toxin called hypoglycin that are of health concern. The recall involves 31 cases of Ashman's Ackees in Brine, distributed by Harvest Foods, Hartford, CT. The products were sold in 19-oz. cans and were shipped in early November to one wholesaler in New York, and to retail stores and restaurants in New York, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. 

Consumers can return this product to the point of purchase. Consumers who have eaten this product should contact their doctors.
