Starbucks Coffee Company Announces Recall of Ceramic Teapots

Manufacturer/Importer: Starbucks Coffee Company, of Seattle, Wash.

Hazard: The teapots are labeled safe for microwave use, but the handles can become hot in the microwave oven. This poses a possible burn hazard to consumers.

Description: This recall involves 40-ounce white ceramic teapots with bamboo handles. The phrase “Microwave and Dishwasher Safe” is printed on the bottom of each teapot.

Sold at: Certain large Starbucks stores nationwide from August 2005 through mid-September 2005 for about $25.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the teapots and contact Starbucks for instructions on returning the product for a full refund and a $5 Starbucks gift card.
