Hazard: A partially crimped sleeve on these flagpoles can allow the
cable to pull through the sleeve causing the loop to release. When the assembly
is raised with no flag attached, it can allow a seven pound counter weight to
drop to the ground, possibly hitting people nearby.
Description: These Internal Halyard flagpoles have a hinged door and a
metal cable on the outside of the pole.
Sold at: Hardware and flag stores nationwide from August 2003 through
October 2003 for between $1,000 and $1,500.

Remedy: Hapco is directly notifying consumers who purchased these
flagpoles about the recall and providing free repair kits. For more
