Deere & Company Announces Recall of Riding Mowers

Name of Product: John Deere GX85 and SX85 Riding Lawn Mowers

Units: 4,400

Manufacturer: Deere & Company of Moline, IL

Hazard: The fuel tanks can crack and leak fuel presenting a potential for fire or burn injuries.

Description: The recalled lawn mowers are green with yellow trim and have either GX85 or SX 85 on the side of the riding mower and a John Deere symbol on the front end and involve the following machines:

Sold at: Authorized John Deere dealers in the United States and Canada from November 2003 through July 2003 for between $2,000 and $2,400.

Remedy: The company is directly notifying those consumers who purchased affected mowers. . Consumers should stop using their tractors immediately and contact a John Deere dealer for a free repair.
