Kansas Feed Manufacturer Issues a Limited Voluntary Recall of a Lamb Feed Product Only Distributed in Kansas and Nebraska

Suther Feeds, Inc is voluntarily recalling one lot number (#19305) of Expression lamb feed packaged in 50 lb. bags. The lot number recalled was manufactured for Suther Feeds, Inc by Garnavillo Mills, in Garnavillo, Iowa. This feed was distributed August 4, 2005 through August 10, 2005 to four customers in Kansas, one customer in Nebraska and three dealers in Kansas. All of the feed has been accounted for with the exception of three bags.

Laboratory testing found a potentially harmful level of monensin sodium (Rumensin) in lot #19305, which has been implicated in five lamb deaths. Monensin sodium, a drug compound approved for use in some livestock species, can be fatal if fed in high levels to lambs. Customers who have purchased Expression lamb feed with the specified lot number #19305 should not continue to use this product and are asked to return it to Suther Feeds, Inc., 105 South Kansas Ave., Frankfort, Kansas or to the dealer where it was purchased.

HJ Baker and Bro., Inc. Announces National Recall of Three Animal Feed Products

H.J. Baker & Bro. has announced that it has begun efforts to retrieve PRO-PAK WITH PORCINE MEAT AND BONE, PRO-LAK, AND PRO-AMINO II produced at its Albertville, AL facility. These products are used as an ingredient in the manufacturing of livestock feed, including feed for dairy animals. This action is being taken to address potential risk of unintentional contamination with ruminant derived protein that may have occurred at this facility from August 2005 to June 2006. Certain mammalian protein is prohibited for use in ruminant feed. These products were distributed in bulk or bags to feed manufacturers and dairy farms in Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, California, and Louisiana.

If you have received any of these products, discontinue their use immediately. Quarantine the product so that it cannot be inadvertently used in the manufacture of feeds and contact the manufacturer at 501-664-4870 for further instructions.

Western Stockmen’s Issues Recall of Pride Mature Horse Feed

Western Stockmen's, Caldwell, ID, is recalling all Pride Mature Horse feed, Lot number 7701-050306, because it may contain monensin sodium (Rumensin), a drug compound approved for use in some livestock species which can be fatal if fed to horses.

Pride Mature Horse feed was distributed by the Western Stockmen's (WSI) store to customers in Caldwell, ID, and to Cowpoke Ranch Supply in Corvallis, MT., and 3 Rivers in Lostine, OR.

Consumers can identify the product by the WSI Pride Feed bag label on 50-pound bags, which will have a feed tag on the top left of the bag labeled Pride Mature Horse, with the lot number 7701-050306 at the bottom.
